Review: de Blob
Presentation
As mentioned above, players liberate an alien city from the evil, monochromatic I.N.K.T. Corporation that has taken over the city and outlawed all colour and fun from daily life. It is a very original story, and is very imaginative. The menus are clean and crisp, but not over the top. Most of the menus are just white, with a few colours. Overall, the game feels really unique.
Score: 9
Graphics
The graphics are very bright and colourful. It suits the game extremely well. They aren’t 3D models, but they are clean and crisp 2D graphics. The game just has an amazing look and feel to it.
Score: 9
Sound
The sound to this game is really nice. It suits the game well. But, for those who don’t want to hear the sound (when in public), it asks you if you want the sound on when you start the game. Overall, it could have been more, but it could have been a lot less.
Score: 8
Gameplay
First off, there are two different types of controls: tilt, and touch. Tilt controls require you to tilt the iPhone to move. These controls are spot on, and nearly perfect. But, after a while, the controls seemed a little boring, so I switch touch. In this, the Blob monsters follows your finger. These controls are also spot on! As for the game itself, you control your monster (tilt or touch) around the city painting buildings. You get full of colour by rolling on top of colour spots. As you colour more buildings, you get more points. When you get enough points (before time runs out), the door opens to the next level. You can go as soon as it opens, or stay and try to get a high score. It is a great game, and is really, really fun to play.
Score: 10
Value
Currently, the game sells for $7.99. I think this is a fair price to pay. You get your moneys worth with this game. This game could even get away with a $9.99 price tag.
Score: 9.5
Lasting Appeal
Not only is the one player long, once you beat it, you’ll probably come back for even more. It is a fun game to play for five minutes, or for hours. You will be playing this game for a long time.
Score: 9
